Rain, rain and then some more.

It has been raining....allot. There has been so much rain that many areas are suffering severe flooding and it is to continue for a few more days. What hardship for all those families that have had their homes destroyed especially coming up to Christmas. I know if my washing machine leaks the mess it can make so the clean up required after flood damage is mammoth and many affected, had only recovered/replaced or rebuilt after the 2009 floods. My heart goes out to all affected by this weather event.

A double rainbow.

The Chef's Table.

Yesterday I was in Delphi, There is a Lodge Hotel there as well as an Adventure Centre both are set in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the West. In the last few weeks a new restaurant has opened in the Adventure Center The Chef's Table and if you are any where close by and in need of a delightful dining experience then I highly recommend you eat there.

It is open for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday and it also serves Sunday lunch. Below are some mouth watering pics of what we enjoyed there yesterday for lunch. Apologies that I did not memories the exact names of the dishes. I don't usually photograph food but this looked as good as it tasted that I could not resist. We were a little surprised that we were the only diners there for lunch, but it is early days and I imagine when word gets out about its excellence it will be busier.

Last One!

It has been an age since I posted. I have had some health issues, A bolt out of the blue so to speak at the start of February and after months of tests, waiting for results, making decisions, I had major surgery early June and I am glad to report recovery is going well.  I'm happy to be have it all behind me and I am looking forward to a healthy future.
On the farm changes are being made. We are having a full dispersal sale of our Doon Charolais herd, it will be with some sadness that we will no longer have these beautiful animals on our farm and last week the last Charolais calf was born so I thought I would share that with you.
This photo was taken about an hour after birth.

Happy Easter

I have been away, busy but with all the wrong stuff :( I hope you all had a Happy Easter. Here the weather is getting warmer. Just a few pictures to show you there is no where to compare to the West of Ireland when  skies are blue and the sun shines.

Farewell January

I write this on the last day of January, and I for one will not be sad to see this my least favorite month come to an end. I dislike the New Year in general because it starts with the family departing after the Christmas holiday, the house looks desolate when the Christmas decorations are put away, and of course one is feeling tired and overweight after all the festive food and entertaining.
The weather has been typical with rain, wind and some light falls of snow, so bring on Spring.
I have noticed some green shoots in the garden but despite the daffodils well up they still never appear before March. But the snowdrops are in full bloom.
